Family & Kids

If You’re Traveling with Children

We know traveling with little ones takes extra planning, so we wanted to share a few helpful notes to make things easier and more relaxed for families.

During the Wedding

There will be children’s entertainers at the wedding, helping during the meal and for several hours afterwards.
This will allow parents to enjoy lunch and the celebration while the kids are entertained and cared for nearby.

Where to Stay with Kids

If you’re traveling with children, we recommend either:

  • Staying by the beach, or
  • Booking a house or apartment near the venue

Both options make logistics much easier and keep everyone comfortable.

Pedregalejo is especially great for families:

  • The sea is usually very calm, ideal for kids
  • There are swings and playgrounds right on the beach
  • Green areas and promenades make it easy to walk around
  • Distances are short, so it’s easy to stay close and flexible
  • Overall, the area around the venue and the coast is very family-friendly, with short drives and relaxed pacing — perfect when traveling with children.
What do do

Here are great family-friendly activities in Málaga that locals and travel blogs recommend — perfect for guests with kids looking for fun things to do around the city and coast:

Outdoor & Nature Fun

  • Beaches & Playground Time: Spend a day at Playa de la Malagueta/Pedregalejo/Torre Del Mar or other calm beaches for swimming, sandcastles, and chiringuito. Many beaches also have playground areas right by the sand, just check before getting there.
  • Parque de Málaga & Shaded Playgrounds: A pleasant, stroller-friendly park in the city centre with shaded paths and playgrounds, a great break from sightseeing.
  • Botanical Gardens (Jardín Botánico-Histórico La Concepción): Explore subtropical and tropical gardens with ponds, waterfalls, and space for picnics — fun for all ages.

Castles & Views

  • Alcazaba & Gibralfaro Castle — Kids love exploring the fortress walls and open spaces, and the views over the city and sea are stunning.

Animal & Wildlife Fun

  • Sea Life Benalmádena or Selwo Marina Dolphinarium — See marine animals and dolphins close up in safe environments just a short drive from Málaga.
  • Bioparc Fuengirola — Immersive zoo with animals in natural-style environments, perfect for a family day trip.

Other Fun Options (Just Outside the City)

  • Caminito del Rey (for older kids/teens): A thrilling boardwalk trail through dramatic gorges (best for families with older children).
  • Adventure Parks & Nature Excursions: Tree-top adventure courses like Aventura Amazonia and accessible nature routes make for great active family days.

Extra Tips for Families

  • Walkable Historic Centre: Málaga’s old town is mostly pedestrian-friendly and stroller-ready, making it easy to explore with little ones.
  • Day Trips Around Costa del Sol (Check the traveling around Andalucia post): The province has plenty of other beaches, water parks, and family attractions within easy reach if you want to explore beyond the city.
